Resilient Youth State of the Nation and Voices Reports:
The state of wellbeing in Australian students

  • The Resilient Youth Reports provide a valuable snapshot of the wellbeing of children and young people in Australia. The 2024 State of the Nation report is based on data collected from almost 150,000 Australian school students, aged 7-18, by Resilient Youth Australia (RYA) using the Resilience Survey - an annual measure of the mental and social health, resilience and engagement of Australian school students.

The Voices report summarises findings from free-text responses provided by 2000 primary and 3500 secondary school students, providing a comprehensive snapshot of young people’s perceptions of solutions to improving wellbeing in their own words.

Surveys were administered to over 800 schools across every state and territory, providing one of the most current and representative indicators of student wellbeing across Australia. In partnership with Resilient Youth Australia and The Resilience Project, the reports are provided at no cost in the hope that this information will inform and guide policy and practise towards a healthier and more resilient community.
